Koh Rong Island

Koh Rong Island is Cambodia’s largest and most popular tourist island. The most activities, range of accommodations, piers around the island. Koh Kong Island is a bigger island, but no overnight accommodations. Koh Rong Samloem, right next to Koh Rong, is quite smaller, and a more quiet destination. Don’t get them confused, but if you do, it won’t make much difference (except when trying to find you hotel.) Koh Rong’s about 80 square kilometers, with 60 kilometers of coastline, and 40 kilometers of that is Beach. Most of the coastline is unoccupied, and can only be reached by a small boat. Big enough.

Ferries leave for Koh Rong about 10 – 20 times a day from SihanoukVille. More in the tourist season, November to March, less during the rainy season from June to October.

Plenty of backpacker places on Koh Rong, as well as luxury resorts, and everything in-between.

Activities on the island include laying on the beach, waking on the beach, eating and lots of drinking, swimming, scuba and snorkeling. Boat trips around the island including of course most of the above.

There’s a few roads through the island, and you can rent a scooter or Tuk Tuk (cart pulled by a motorcycle) to get around. There’s trails though the jungle, hills and waterfalls. Massage on the beach. Kayaks, sailboats, jet skis. Booze cruises. Lots of swimming pools. And not too much more.

Tourist go to the island to relax, to party, to explore.
